Lead Consultants submitted the successful grant funding application on behalf of Australian Regional & Remote Community Services to refurbish Juninga’s Aged Care Facility, located in Coconut Grove, Darwin NT. As the application fulfilled all requirements of the tender, ARRCS secured $4.2 in capital funding for the refurbishment of the 24-bed facility.
Our Project Management, Superintendent, and Commissioning teams were engaged to manage and oversee the project. These works included upgrading the resident bedrooms, common areas, administrative areas, and enhancing the external spaces. Throughout the project, we faced several challenges due to working in a live environment. Open and frequent communication with key stakeholders (client and contractor) was essential, enabling minimise disruptions to the daily lives of residents and staff. Despite these challenges, the project was completed on time and successfully reached practical completion in June 2024.
Highlights:
- Securing additional funding prior to completion, enabling ARRCS to undertake additional upgrades
- Resident consultation included selection of interior colours, fabric selections and wing names
- Local Elder, Les Huddleston, was engaged to design a new front entry mural and artwork throughout the facility
- The Contractor, National Aboriginal Construction Project Partners, were engaged for construction delivery, who patterned with local Indigenous community members and businesses for delivery
Lead’s team was present for the facility opening ceremony alongside the Department of Health and Aged Care, ARRCS Executives, Juninga residents, local community members and the project team
