After 24 months, we are proud to share that the significant refurbishment and upgrade to Acacia Gardens Residential Aged Care Facility (RAC) in Toowoomba, QLD, is complete.
This project had many key stakeholders, including The Australian Government, which contributed $8.9 million to coincide with the $10 million commitment from UnitingCare Queensland. Lead was first engaged by UnitingCare Queensland to assist with drafting the grant funding application and was further engaged as Project Manager and Superintendent for the construction works.
As the true measure of successful refurbishment projects with strong stakeholder engagement, we were able to keep most of the facility open throughout the duration of the project (no less than 94 beds were available at any stage of the 24-month project). This is a testament to the open communication and ongoing commitment to resident comfort and well-being.
Working in the refurbishment environment means our team needs to be quick to adapt and always open to feedback from the ground staff nurses, operational teams, and carers. We enjoy this communication loop as we get to become part of the team and get to know what works well and assist in managing pain points and frustration, with the goal of achieving better outcomes.
